Prepare a video for phones and social posts
Choose the framing your post needs, keep the subject inside the crop, and check the exported clip on its destination device.
Understand the trade-off
Frame for the destination instead of assuming one layout fits every app. The editor has 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9 presets plus a free crop. Drag the frame and its corners to keep your subject in view.
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is a sensible starting point for sharing, but test the receiving app and device. A GIF is an animated image with no sound; this editor limits GIF exports to 15 seconds, 10 fps and a 480-pixel longest edge.
A useful starting point
- Choose the aspect ratio above the preview.
- Move or resize the crop frame around the subject.
- Drag the timeline playhead to inspect both clip boundaries.
- Use MP4 for a video with sound, or GIF for a short silent loop.
Use the editor
- Drop a video onto the home page; processing happens in your browser.
- Use the thumbnail timeline to set the clip boundaries. Zoom to the clip for precise adjustments.
- Choose an aspect ratio, then move or resize the crop frame.
- Select the output format. Open Advanced export settings only if you need quality, resolution, frame rate or bitrate controls.
- Export, then play the saved file before sharing it.
Test a short sample
Test a short section that includes movement, text and audio before exporting the full video. Trim and crop edits re-encode the selected video; Auto can preserve compatible unedited streams. Keep the source file so you can try again.
Check the result
Inspect the beginning and end, the subject’s framing, audio sync and small text. Check file size and dimensions, then preview the destination platform’s upload: it may resize or recompress the result.
